Extruder motor not working
« on: March 29, 2014, 02:49:39 PM »
Hello! I try to make flight check for Bukito.
After heating extruder up to 210 degrees I press "Extrude" button and nothing happens.
Also I try to send G-code:
Code: [Select]
M302. And also there are silence.

No error messages I've got.

X, Y and Z motors ok. I'm able to move them via RepetierHost.

How to check extruder motor?

Try switching the motor cable (the short 4-wire cable going from the circuit board to the motor body) with one of the others. That is the most likely failure point, as our supplier flaked on us and we ended up needing to hand crimp those ourselves for the first batch.

Hi Rich!
Switching 4-wire motor cable has the same result.
Extruder motor not working. It hasn't any reactions.

Hmm, try switching the IDC cable going to the Z axis board to go to the E axis board, then try moving the X axis. This should make the E motor turn unless it is just a bad motor. If this makes it turn, move the other end of that IDC cable (the one in the port marked X) to the one marked E, and try moving the E axis again. This will tell you if the E driver is working.

Hi Rich!
I found an IDC cable damage. There was a shift when pressing cords, so some of them has a short current. Exturder motor now work fine after reconnecting wires (re-pressing them into black plastic connector).

But now I have a new problem: http://forum.bukobot.com/index.php?topic=3147.0

Ah. We've seen that once or twice since shipping the first batch, and I've since built a test rig so that we can check all of those cables before sending them out in future batches.
