Problems with clogged extruder and nylon
« on: March 17, 2014, 05:54:55 AM »
I've been having trouble printing after my V2 ran out of filament while printing PLA and the extruder got completely clogged. I tried a cold pull with nylon but the nylon either broke or stretched out when I tried to retract it. I put stainless steel electrical wire strands through the extruder and finally got it clear enough to print but still having trouble.

What its the best way to clean out the hot and cold ends of the extruder? Why does the filament come out with the sawtooth pattern in this picture?

The "sawtooth pattern" is curling of the plastic after it leaves the nozzle, indicating that your nozzle is starting too far from the platform. Try adjusting your platform to be closer to the nozzle on the first layer.
