Any PLA fan suggestions for a Bukobot 8 v2?
« on: January 22, 2014, 09:50:45 PM »
I see the Bukito has an upgrade option for a PLA fan, and the v1 has a link to printable mount. Does anyone have a recommendation for the v2? I don't mind creating my own, but I need to know the best place to blow the air.

Should I mount it to the extruder platform, or to the frame?
Should I direct the air flow to just below the extruder, or is it best to have uniform air flow over the entire print area?
Is a shroud that wraps around the nozzle better than one that points in from one direction?

You want this type of fan to be pointed at the area around the nozzle, but not at the nozzle itself. This is what all of the various shrouds are trying to achieve in different ways. The fan should move around with the extruder so that it is always pointed at the just-printed plastic.

Has anyone done this?  Does it make much difference?
