Bukobot V1 - Printing and cleaning nozzle with Nylon 618
« on: November 27, 2013, 08:54:01 AM »
I was reading this excellent blog post written by whosawhatsis (http://bukobot.com/nozzle-cleaning) in which he suggests using Nylon 618 to clean the nozzle.

The first question that comes to mind is : Can this method be used with the first generation Bukobots, given that nylon does not feature in the list of supported materials ? If I can use Nylon to clean the nozzle, can I assume that I can use Nylon 618 to print in general on my first gen bukobot ?

Yes, 618 is excellent for cleaning all nozzles.

While not officially supported (the design isn't ideal, and the nylon has a tendency to stick to the aluminum nozzles), some users have had a lot of success printing 618 using older Bukobots with the Bukoschnozzle. It works better if you have one of the last batch of Bukoschnozzles we shipped, which switched from aluminum to brass for the nozzle. Our Tatsu V2 drive gears are also specifically designed with Nylon in mind, with larger teeth that sink deeper into the plastic.
