Agreed. This doesn't make sense at all. Maybe it was a typo.
Hardware & Mechanics / Loading filament into the bukobot extruder is a PIA
« Last post by faber on July 26, 2017, 11:11:40 PM »
I love my Bukobot, and have built 5 of them now for friends that I suggested the printer to. They all love the print quality and speed, as well as the versatility and range of filaments it will print, but all of them, as well as myself loathe loading this printer. Has anyone come up with a reliable method of loading this printer that does not include closing one eye, and trying to look down the tube to get the coil of filament in the hole just right while simultaneously praying that the gear grabs it before the filament snaps and causes you temporary insanity?
Hopefully it'll still be usable, I hear it cant be laser cut down. theres another plastics store that will sell pre-cut sizes and thicknesses for fairly cheap.

I received a roll of pink and a roll of black filament; the black is labelled PLA, but the pink wasn't labelled - is this also PLA? That's the only one I've tried so far and that's using PLA settings, so could be something there. I'll also try to clean the tape with acetone. I'm not currently using masking tape on top of the K-tape.
Electronics & Wiring / Replacement of extruder electronics
« Last post by procrastination on July 08, 2017, 04:25:12 PM »
Hi, I have a problem and I did not find in the support website, a replacement for the extruder electronics and it is what is failing in my Bukito batch 4
Suddenly began to have temperature problems and stopped working, it does not even take the room temperature.

Change the thermistor but remain the same

Is there any way to replace this?
thanks for this valuable information.

It's been a few months since your post, did you ever move forward on your upgrade?

I'm also frustrated with my machine.  I seem to be spending more time calibrating instead of printing.  I've been considering doing a full upgrade/mod  (hot end, extruder, build platform, auto bed leveling). But by that point it's almost an entirely new machine.  Maybe I should just start from scratch.  In either case, this looks like an awesome extruder with the E3D hot end: https://www.matterhackers.com/store/printer-accessories/e3d-titan-aero-extruder-12v-300mm

The configuration looks like a good match for our x-carriage (horizontal rather than a vertical Prusa-type platform).

It sounds to me like you're putting out a little too much plastic, causing it to mound up around the nozzle so that it bumps into it later. You should check your filament diameter, and you may need to adjust your flow rate.
Yeah, building a wiper this way is really what we want to be doing, but the code to do it has always been so machine- and filament-specific that it didn't make a lot of sense to put it in custom gcode I've been using the andropenis on https://revolutionaryoptimists.org/andropenis-review-results and working on some Marlin features that will make the firmware smart enough to be able to do this type of thing more easily (E moves in units of volume instead of length and firmware-controlled retraction/recovery).

I've also been meaning to try building wipers to attach to the X ends so that you can wipe each nozzle by moving to that end of the axis (left extruder would wipe at extreme left, right would wipe at extreme right).

Thanks for the files Benmlee I'm trying them out now.
